Sidney, passed away Monday, March 30, 2009 at 5:50 A.M. at Wilson Memorial Hospital.She was born on December 22, 1937 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Donnell and Thelma (Metcalf) Smith. On March 14, 1959 she married John S. Whittenberger, who survives along with four children, Steve Whittenberger and his wife Lori, Lisa Whittenberger both of Sidney, Aaron Whittenberger of Independence, Ky., and Mrs. James (Kendra) Eikenberry of Ft. Mill S.C., eight grandchildren, and three sisters, Ethel Carter of Largo, Fl., Mrs. John (Betty) Schmitz of Lillian, Al., and Barbara Butler of Hillsboro, Oh. One brother and one granddaughter preceded her in death.Rosalie was a homemaker, a member of Sidney First United Methodist Church, and the Women of the Sidney Moose Lodge. She enjoyed bowling, arts and crafts, was known as the cake lady, and worked at the election poles during elections. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 1 P.M. from the Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave, with Rev. Barbara Staley officiating. Burial will be at Shelby Memory Gardens. Friends may call Thursday from 11 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Sidney First United Methodist Church or The American Heart Association in Rosalie Whittenberger's memory.
